OUT THERE SAILING 1 - CLINIC

Out There Sailing 1, is a great introduction to the sport of sailing and the skills required, but will still focus on fun with friends. 

The program provides a wide variety of on water activities that will introduce dinghy sailing, and an opportunity to experience stand up paddle boarding, keelboat sailing and powerboating. You will learn skills through exciting exercises and put them to good use in fun, on-water activities.

A typical rundown of each day goes as follows: 

     Day 1: 

  • Sailing in a dingy sailing boat (e.g. pacer) 
  • Powerboat ride at the end of the day

 

     Day 2: 

  • Stand up paddle boarding
  • Sailing in a dingy sailing boat (e.g. pacer) 
  • Wind surfing using an IQ

 

     Day 3:

  • Sailing/Keelboating
  • Powerboat ride
  • Non-sailing games on shore. 

 

We are experienced in being flexible and adjusting our daily structure dependant on weather and student preferences. 

The main focus of this course is sailing, with the additional exposure to other on water activities in a fun, inclusive and supportive environment.   Experience life long benefits that are engraved in our sport, including: teamwork, character building, resilience, problem solving and responsibility. 


 

Prerequisites: Water confident.

Who should do this program? This program is designed for participants who are 12-17 years-old looking to try a new activity, have some fun and engage with others whilst sailing.

Sessions will run daily from the 19th -21st of January, starting at 10am until 4pm. This is a great opportunity to utilise the Summer school holidays, spend time in the sun and learn some exciting new skills, in a fun and supportive environment.

 


 

Additional information: 

Age: 12-17 years of age

Prerequisite: Must be confident in the water and able to swim

Registrations close: 12th of January 2026. 

Lunch: BYO Food and Water. Fridge access if needed.

Meeting location: On the grass in front of the club 

Price Strucuture: 

  • Non-club members: $300
  • Club members: $250
  • Second child registration: $225
  • Third or more child registrations: $150

Please note: During registration you will be asked questions to identify if any discounts will apply to you, we will then apply discounts accordingly to your invoice prior to payment. 

 Certificate at the completion of the course. 


 

Please bring: 

Suitable water/sailing clothing e.g. wetsuits, bathers, rash vest, board shorts, appropriate water shoes are recommended.

Sun protection: Sunscreen, hat, sunglasses

Participants are reminded that the decision to participate rests solely with the participant and/or their parents. While reasonable precautions will be made, Largs Bay Sailing Club can not be held responsible for any health effects as a result of the algae exposure.
