LARGS BAY SAILING CLUB OPTIMIST INTERMEDIATE FLEET

Our Intermediate Fleet is designed for those sailors who are ready to step up their skills and compete at a higher level. 

This course works with multiple types of boats all competing against each other on a set course 

Intermediate fleet racing is a form of competitive sailing that is the most common form of sailboat racing and contrasts with match racing and team racing. 

Our Saturday Morning Program runs over 14 weeks, including 2 Terms.

Term 1: October 24th 2026 to 5th Dec 2026
Term 2: 30th January 2027 to 20th March 2027 
(excluding 6th March for LWE)

Age: Dependent on skill level and confidence. Discuss with your instructor. 

The total cost for this course is $300. (Sport vouchers accepted)

NOTE: Sports vouchers must be attached at the time of registration to be accepted. Any late forms will not be accepted.

ALGAL BLOOM

Largs Bay Sailing Club will follow the governments guidance on the current Algal Bloom situation, and how it relates to our activities. Participants are reminded that the decision to participate rests solely with the participant and/or their parents. While reasonable precautions will be made, Largs Bay Sailing Club can not be held responsible for any health effects as a result of the algae exposure.

Program Focus:

The Intermediate Fleet Program includes scheduled and regular coaching. Allowing you to practice and race in club and class association programs at clubs.

At Intermediate Fleet level you may remain active- for-life, and enjoy lifelong activity which can cross multiple disciplines, and class of boat or board. 

During the Intermediate Fleet Program, there is continued freesail opportunity to support further enjoyment in the sport and environment.
